We first encountered NURENSC through the sponsorship for one of their recent events and found it fitting to platform their stories following our recent explorations about the role of women, motherhood, and slow fashion with Muta Wear. Styled in pre-loved Utopia garments, it sparked conversations about inclusive sizing in the fashion industry regarding access. We selected access garments (sized S-M) that have been worn over one generation; as they are made well, the garments can have a new lease of life when adorned by women from NURENSC. Here are some down-to-earth insights and wisdom shared by the wise women of NURENSC. An inspiration to all.

We began the afternoon by being introduced to a female architect + construction specialist who showcased great initiative during the shoot, assisting with holding props for lighting and documenting behind-the-scenes footage of the gathering. Christine, the founder of NURENSC ( Secret Club), curated a selection of four female entrepreneurs making waves in the sustainable and mindful space. These are their stories.
Sue-Ann from Our Sacred Sanctuary

Sue-Ann carries with her an atmosphere of collected calm. Sue-Ann, the founder of Our Sacred Sanctuary, is an integrated mindfulness-based healer who loves simple & natural things and enjoys exploring and appreciating the beauty & excellence of things and people.
Sue-ann shares with us her holistic process in her programs that incorporate art, sound, and mindful movements. One may look forward to experiencing a slower pace through watercolor painting, vision board creation, and new year resolutions mapping in her upcoming end-of-year programs. OSS programs help individuals recognize and intervene with self-sabotaging thoughts and what drives them. The sessions are created in a state of trust and produce the vision board and soap making. Sue-ann’s mission is to assist clients in slowing down with the way they live to enable a clearer headspace to recognize why and what drives them to live life. She hopes everyone can let go of burdens that may be holding them back from enjoying moments in life while achieving their life goals.
As she builds her mindful business, she shares the learning journey of self-care and love with us. As a mother of two children, she had to learn that not everything has to be done by herself. That community, support networks, and trusting people to help you learn will enable a space where individuals grow in their relationships.
As human beings are social beings, Sue-Ann believes that a critical aspect of successful entrepreneurship involves human connection, an understanding of what is essential in the present moment that can contribute to the greater good, and actionable steps to get there.

Sara from Ress Skincare

Through a process of self-acceptance, healing, and finding alternate ways to treat her eczema, Ress Skincare is Sara's victory story as she conquered mental health and her journey with eczema. Through exploring different herb use, Sara rebuilt her self-esteem with skin remedies that soothed her eczema. By establishing her own business, Sara has risen above the contemporary woman's demands.
She has coined a convenient term in her practice as an entrepreneur, being a sustainable dreamer. Her business journey started in structured work and family environments where the idealism of dreams needed to meet practicality for her venture to sustain and grow. She learned this when she made the brave move of using all her savings to start the business. Support networks and honest conversations about improvement are treasured insights for Sara during her growth as an entrepreneur.
She also learned that while money is not everything in life, becoming a wise, sustainable dreamer was essential to provide staff jobs and quality goods for customers.
Her subsequent developments for Ress Skincare include expansions in Southeast Asia and China.

Sharel’s primary message to women everywhere is: “You have to Love Yourself Too” and that is why she named her brand LoveYs2.
Sharel’s vision for her brand LoveYS2 is to enable women to look beautiful regardless of age and have the means and tools to run their own beauty micro-business. Issues and challenges with managing money and a healthy cash flow often bring about unhappiness, and the empowerment of Love YS2 is created with the heart of achieving liberty and dignity for all. This is why Sharel hopes for LoveYs2 to empower women, especially stay-home mums, to run their own micro businesses.
Sharel is a woman who knows her stand, and her presence not only commands her confidence, it also pours into those around her. She recommends that women continually invest time in building themselves, not compare or shoulder their worth on another, and always inspire everyone equally to actualize their self-worth.

Meet Christine, the founder of NURENSC (女人 Secret Club). She is an actionable changemaker who has readily invested her time and insights in mentoring peers and PSB Academy students over the past few years. It is our heart to learn from the great wisdom that every woman brings with them, and this sharing session was fathomed thanks to Christine.
Why 女人 Secret Club (NRSC)?
Too often, when we see strong, successful women, we fixate on their power, on their confidence, on their self-assurance. What we do not see is that behind that fierce veneer is a human being with her own share of struggles, failures, and vulnerabilities. This is where 女人 Secret Club (NRSC) comes in. We want to create a sisterhood of like-minded, strong women-on-the-go who rise together by lifting each other up.

NRSC can help women to have financial freedom through its platform. Empowering women, creating opportunities, and building connection is the primary mission Christine wants to develop in this community. Her key strength is the desire to succeed in achieving targets and goals. She believes in working hard and smart to achieve what she wants. On top of that, her beliefs are that multi-tasking and being passionate about what she is doing is the key to success, as well as lifting others to be positive and giving back to society.
Christine shares that the collective is looking for like-minded investors to cultivate this healthy camaraderie between female entrepreneurs in Singapore. In the true spirit of gender equity and education about women's issues in mature conversations and settings, our photographer for the day was Jared Lau (he/him). With an innate understanding that this sparks a discursive conversation about the male/ female gaze and its power. Having males in the room is vital as pivotal exchanges of female empowerment happen. This enables men to learn through listening and observation when the women share their stories in a manner of honor, respect, dignity, and inspiration.
When Cherish by Her first started, I fathomed a theory I hoped to practice where the gender gap may find an equilibrium in a 60/40 ratio. Through conversations with thought leaders and learning at round tables, I have learned that universal HR practices for diversity + gender equity in the workplace currently stand at 70/30, and I will be taking heed of this until enlightened otherwise.
