Echoing Bliss: An Interview with Shruti, Founder of Echo Bliss Studios

In the world of art and design, where every motif tells a story, Shruti's creations showcase the beauty of cultural harmony between her heritage and the places she has found home. The founder of Echo Bliss Studios, Shruti weaves together Indian mandalas, Indonesian wooden carvings, and Peranakan tile motifs, crafting designs that reflect her rich, multicultural journey. After meeting her at our recent Dialing Dahlia brunch during Women’s Month, we learned about her artistic process, the challenges she has faced, and the message she hopes to convey to her audience.

How did you start your artistic process?

"My creative journey began with a search for identity. Having been born in India, raised in Indonesia from the age of one to ten, and then moving to Singapore, I often found myself straddling different cultural influences. I wanted my work to reflect this unique blend of experiences. That’s why my designs incorporate elements from Indian mandala patterns, Indonesian wooden carvings, and Peranakan tile motifs. In many ways, my art is a creative representation of my multicultural identity."

What was a challenge in the creative process that you have learnt to overcome and how?

"One of my biggest challenges was motivation—especially when it came to understanding what would resonate with people and sell well. There were times I doubted whether my ideas would be appreciated. On top of that, each piece takes 2-3 hours to assemble, making the process time-intensive. Over time, I learned to trust my instincts, focus on the joy of creating, and let my work find its audience organically."

If you could give your younger self one word of advice, what would it be?

"Never give up. Push through, and don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t make it. Throughout my journey, I had people telling me that pursuing a creative path wasn’t practical or that I wasn’t good enough. It wasn’t easy, and I had to constantly reassure myself that I was on the right track. There will always be ups and downs, but focus on the highs—because that’s where you should aim to be."

What message would you like to convey to your viewer?

"I want to create products that seamlessly fit into any space—whether it’s a home, office, or personal corner—bringing a sense of simplicity and awe to my customers. My goal is to design pieces that are not just decor but an extension of one’s personal space, blending artistry with functionality.

I recently started my company, Echo Bliss Studios, with the hope of making a lasting impact. The name itself reflects my vision—Echo represents how whispers, conversations, and ideas ripple through spaces, spreading from one person to another. Bliss signifies the joy and warmth I hope my creations bring into people's lives, making their homes a little more serene and beautiful.

Beyond design, I aspire to give back. In the future, I plan to dedicate a percentage of my profits to NGOs and community initiatives, using my work as a way to uplift and contribute to those in need. Through Echo Bliss Studios, I want to create not just art, but a meaningful connection that continues to spread."

Shruti’s work bridges borders, cultures, and experiences into something deeply personal. Her passion for creating meaningful, functional art is evident in every design, and her vision for Echo Bliss Studios extends beyond aesthetics—towards a future of impact and connection.
